2009 Voorhees College Baseball Outlook
The Voorhees College baseball program is ready to begin what
is to be another exciting year for the Tigers. After losing
six seniors from the 2008 roster, the Tigers will be looking
to rebuild with a host of new faces.
Lead by senior captain Michael Curry along with Julian
Yarwood, Curtis Hills and 2008 Freshman of the Year, Kirk
High, there will be a few new faces that will have to make a
quick impact. The new additions will include: Chris Moon
(Atlanta, GA), Alex Johnson (Riverdale, GA), Ivan De Jesus
Sada (Tampa, FL), Stanish Morgan (Hopkins, SC), and Chase
Stanford (Jacksonville, FL) to name a few.
The 52 game schedule, will definitely be challenging as they
look to break into the NAIA’s newly formed Association of
Independent Institution’s Tournament which will be hosted in
Victoria, TX in May 2009. Voorhees College will be one of
seven institutions competing for one of the four spots in
the tournament.
In the past the program has enjoyed some great seasons that
included capturing the EIAC regular season championship in
2001 and 2002. The program has also earned four EIAC
tournament runner-up trophies in 1991, 1992, 1994 and 1995
and EIAC Invitational tournament champions in 2006.
