MISSION

The Freshman Year Experience Program (FYEP) at Voorhees College is designed to help students adjust to the rigors and demands of college life.  A comprehensive program of coordinated services and activities are provided to create a campus climate focused on student success enhancing retention, graduation and graduate/professional school attendance rates.

                                     

GOALS

Through the efforts of the freshman year experience program, Voorhees’ expectations are:

• To ease the transition and adjustment of new students to the college environment.

• To assist first year students in developing a sense of community and belonging.

• To improve students’ decision making skills that will help them to overcome daily challenges in the course of their personal and academic development.

• To make students aware of resources and services that will guide them in their academic and personal growth.

• To help students develop peer-to peer relationships.

• To increase faculty and staff interactions with students.

• To develop essential academic skills.

• To impact student retention to the sophomore year and persistence to graduation.
