The Freshman Year Experience Program - Leaders

“Building Bridges to Success”

The GOAL of the Orientation Leaders

New Students

Who Are the Orientation Leaders?

Orientation Leaders are a trained group of students who serve as “big brothers” or “big sisters” to new students.

Peer tutor mentors offer advice, answer questions and provide information about other opportunities on campus to new students.

They encourage and foster independence in new students by introducing them to services and to faculty and staff members who can assist them in developing confidence and academic success.

How are Orientation Leaders Selected?

The selection process requires that students have achieved at least sophomore status by the fall semester, serve and be in good academic standing with at least a 2.5 grade point average and a clearly articulated desire to assist students.

Orientation Leaders must exemplify a strong interest in helping students become active, involved and academically successful at Voorhees College.

Interested students must complete an application, letter of reference, and an interview. We review how active you are with campus activities and approval from the General Studies, Academic and Student Affairs areas are a must before students are selected to serve as Orientation Leaders.

Orientation Leaders must be in good academic and social standing with the institution.
