Introduces students to the basic concepts,
theories, and procedures of the field of social
work.
SWK 331. Human Behavior and Social
Environment (3)
Provides an overview of the human life cycle
from birth to old age, focusing on the
psychosocial implications for each state of
development.
SWK 432. Social Welfare Policy and
Services (3)
Focuses on the impact of social, economic and
political forces which impinge on the welfare
system and produce dysfunction and inadequacies
in the human service delivery system. Specific
content includes historical perspectives on
social welfare policy, value assumptions and the
implications of social policy for social welfare
programs.
SWK 436. Social Work in Health Related
Fields (3)
Designed to help students develop knowledge,
skills, and attitudes necessary to work in
health related fields. Two broad areas of
concern are social work in medical and
psychiatric settings and delivery of health care
services. Though general in scope, the course
enables students to acquire knowledge in problem
solving and in analyzing service systems.
