Head Coach: Merrill Gadsden
Merrill Gadsden a 27-year-old native of Charleston, SC residing in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He is currently serving in his 2nd year as Head Coach of the Voorhees College cheerleaders. Merrill received his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting in May 2016. He is a teacher at the High School for Health Professions where I am the Assistant Cheerleading coach, Yearbook, Modeling, and Broadcasting advisor. He is currently a student in the Organizational Management program at Charleston Southern University, which I hope to complete in May 2020 as well as a member of the Charleston Southern Bucs cheerleading program.
Merrill has been cheering for a total of 8 years and has grown a deep love, passion, and appreciation for the sport. He started on the collegiate level at his undergraduate institution. While in undergrad, he held the titles of 2-year captain, co-captain, business manager, mascot handler, and assistant coach. He is primarily responsible for 4 MEAC Cheerleading Title including 1st Place in the Co-Ed Division in 2014. While in undergrad, he received numerous accolades for his talent, hard-work, and dedication to the cheerleading program. After graduating, he became the Head Coach of the cheerleading program and coached the 1st National Stomp -n- Shake Collegiate Championship in 2017.
Merrill is also the owner of a company called 5 Star Coaching and Consulting where he specializes in cheerleading and pageant coaching and consulting with hopes to expand to image and financial consulting. He lives by the quote, “Don’t throw back the rocks life throws at you, instead, collect them so one day you could build a castle.”
