Men's Basketball


Voorhees College head coach Derrick Mitchell announced the addition of six student-athletes for the upcoming 2017-2018 basketball season. The 2017 recruiting class includes Julius Chamble, Tyler Rhodes, Andrew Roker, Malik Timmons, Stacy Masten, Dontrea Osborne.

Malik Timmons – 6'4 – F – Grey Collegiate – Columbia, SC

Malik is a 6'4 forward who transfers in from Newberry College in Newberry, SC. Khalil played 1 season for Spartanburg Methodist.

Coach Mitch on Malik: "Malik plays with a relentless motor while on the floor. We are looking forward to him giving us a defensive presence on the floor while helping us on the boards."

Tyler Rhodes – 6'6 - F – Central Georgia Tech – Macon, GA

Tyler is a 6'6 forward who comes in from Central Georgia Tech. Tyler played 1 season under head coach Reco Dawson. During his freshmen year he had averages of 6.8 PPG & 4.8 RBG while shooting 55% from the field and 41.8% from the 3 PT line. Tyler had season highs of 14 points against Combine Academy CLT & 10 rebounds against Combine Academy – Orlando and Chattahoochee Tech.

Coach Mitch on Tyler: "Tyler will be able to play multiple positions for us while being able to stretch the floor as a forward. An overall great student-athlete."

Julius Chamble – 6'4 – G – Loganville High School Loganville, GA

Julius is a 6'4 Wing who transfers in from Loganville High School had seasons high of 20 points against Eastside, 12 rebounds against Walnut Grove & 3 assists against Flowery Branch.

Coach Mitch on Julius: "Julius will provide us length and athleticism at the wing position. With his length and athleticism, he will be a defensive stopper for us and we think he can be one of the better rebounding wings in the NAIA."

Deontrea Osborne – 6'1 – G – Lakewood High School – Sumter, SC

Deontrea is 6'1 guard who transfers in from Lakewood High in Sumter, SC. Deontrea played 3 seasons at Lakewood High under head coach Brandon Brown. During his Senior year he had averages of 13.8 PPG, 4.5 RBG & 3.9 APG while shooting 51.7% from the field and 45.2% from the 3 PT line. Deontrea had season highs of 29 points against Sumter High while shooting a perfect 7-7 from 3 during the game, 10 rebounds against Lower Richland & 7 assists against Crestwood.

Coach Mitch on Deontrea: "We are excited to have Deontrea in the program. We are looking for him to be a defender and as another scorer on the perimeter."

Stacy Masten – 6'2 – G – East Georgia State College – Douglasville, GA

Stacy is a 6'2 guard who transfers from East Georgia State College in Swainsboro, GA. Kinsey played 2 seasons at East Georgia under head coach Leroy Jordan. Stacy averaged 7.7 PPG, 3.1 RBG & 1.4 APG. Stacy had season highs of 16 points against Atlanta Metro, 8 rebounds against Central Georgia Tech &  against 5 assist South Georgia State.

Coach Mitch on Stacy: "Excited to have Stacy in the program. He will bring us athleticism in the backcourt. His athleticism will allow him to be a good leader and scorer for us."

Andrew Roker – 6'8 – C – Walters State – Morristown, TN

Andrew is a 6'8 center who transfers in from Walters State Community College in Morristown, TN. Andrew played 1 seasons at WSCC under head coach Bill Carlyle. Andrew in his freshmen year had averaged 4 PPG & 4.5 RBG. He had season highs of 13 points against Motlow State & 12 rebounds against Chatt State.
