Women's Head Coach: Edward J. Glover Jr

Coach Edward J. Glover Jr. is entering his 20th season at the helm of leading the Voorhees College women’s basketball program. He is in his 24th season overall as a head coach and 26th season overall on the college level sidelines. During his time at VC, he has led the Lady Tigers basketball team to several conference championships and over 300 victories. With the team's achievements over the years, Glover has received many accolades such as conference and media coach of the year awards and he is currently ranked nationally among the top active NAIA women's basketball coaches for career wins.
Prior experiences include stints as the head women’s basketball coach at Denmark Technical College and assistant men’s basketball coach at Claflin University. At Denmark Tech, Glover was mentored by then Athletic Director/Men’s Basketball Head Coach, the late Theodore Chaplin (VC alumni, VC hall of famer and legend). In his final season at Tech, Glover led the women’s program to a 20-4 record. As an assistant men’s basketball coach under the tutelage of Claflin’s former head coach, the late James “Gus” Guydon (VC Men’s Head Coach 1984-85), Glover was part of a program that won back to back Eastern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament championships in 1996 and 1997.
Glover is a graduate of Claflin University with a B.A. in Sociology and South Carolina State University with a M.A. in Rehabilitation Counseling. He also attended and lettered at Francis Marion University as a member of the men's basketball squad.
The St. Matthews, S.C. native was a three-sport scholar athlete at Calhoun County High School.
In addition to his coaching duties, Glover is a mental health professional counselor with the Orangeburg Area Mental Health Center that serves Bamberg, Calhoun and Orangeburg counties. Within the organization he serves as the Clinic Director of the Bamberg County Satellite office in Denmark and has over twenty seven years of experience in the human services field. He is also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
Coach Glover is married to Dr. Elrica L.C. Glover; they are the proud parents of two daughters and a son.
