A two-day Landowner’s Symposium was held on Voorhees College

The symposium featured keynote speaker Vernita F. Dore, deputy undersecretary for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). In addition, there were several breakout sessions that allowed participants to hear about USDA programs and from the Center for Heirs’ Property.
Participants also had an opportunity to tour the campus and learn about Voorhees from Richard Reid, Voorhees archivist. The symposium concluded with a panel discussion on strategies to help forest landowners become more involved the sustainable local food movement. Following the panel discussion, Dr. Jennie Stephens, executive director of the Center for Heirs’ Property, provided closing remarks.
