American Multinational Corporation, Boeing, visits Voorhees College

May 19, 2016

On Wednesday, May 11, 2016, four representatives from Boeing South Carolina visited Voorhees College with the purpose of establishing a relationship with the institution.

Boeing, an aircraft manufacturing company founded in Seattle in 1916, began Boeing South Carolina in 2004 as two companies, Vought Aircraft Industries, Charleston Operations; and Global Aeronautica LLC. In October 2009, Boeing selected the North Charleston site for a new 787 Dreamliner final assembly and delivery line.

One of Boeing’s corporate undertakings is to make sure everyone in South Carolina is aware of the many initiatives it has to offer, such as the DreamLearners program for K-12th graders, college internships and mentoring programs, the corporate giving opportunities and their robotics.  Boeing representatives shared with the Voorhees College faculty and staff the many careers in which the company is currently recruiting, including engineering, logistics, manufacturing, information technology and business.

“Voorhees is excited to form this new partnership with Boeing,” said President Sellers.  “We look forward to providing qualified students and taking advantage of many of their initiatives.”
