May 21, 2018

The Voorhees College Division of Institutional Advancement and Development recently attended a “Creating a Spirit of Excellence” workshop hosted by alumnus Rev. Dr. Donald E. Greene, Jr.

The purpose of the workshop was for the division to receive insight, techniques, and discuss means for providing customer service to the institution’s’ stakeholders. Topics included employee buy-in, customer service, appearance and dress code, career choice, and branding.

Greene provided examples and feedback to some of the challenges and obstacles that development can be faced with. In addition, President W. Franklin Evans gave remarks on taking on leadership roles and the future of Voorhees.

He is a 1988 graduate of Voorhees with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Greene earned a master’s degree in theology and pastoral studies and received an honorary doctorate in divinity.

Currently, he is the pastor of Andrew Chapel Baptist Church in Orangeburg, S.C.

Dr. Gwynth Nelson vice president for institutional advancement said she has been working with Greene on various projects and can tell he has a true love for Voorhees. “I think Dr. Greene did an excellent presentation that introduce some new concepts to the team along with ways of improvement on current ones,” Nelson said.
