Voorhees College United Negro College Fund scholarship recipient Naomi Exum, recently attended the 26th annual UNCF Mayor’s Masked Ball in Florence, S.C.

The purpose of the event was to bring corporate and community leaders together to raise funds to support UNCF’s mission of providing scholarship funding to their UNCF supported institutions.

UNCF supports 37 Historically Black Colleges and Universities, including five in South Carolina. Allen University, Benedict College, Claflin University, Morris College, and Voorhees College are all supported by UNCF. Representatives from these institutions were in attendance at the gala as well.

Exum is a sophomore majoring in child development and a member of Miss Voorhees College Royal Court as Miss Sophomore. She was accompanied at the gala by Director of Alumni Relations Ulysses Williams.

“This was my first time attending a UNCF event, and I cannot put into words how exciting and honored I felt to represent Voorhees at a classy affair,” Exum said. “Because of funding from UNCF, I can continue to develop my craft and earn a quality education.”
