Voorhees College President Cleveland L. Sellers, Jr. is pleased to announce the promotion of Teesa Brunson to assistant vice president for institutional advancement. 

As the assistant vice president for institutional advancement, Brunson will be responsible for developing and implementing all fundraising efforts under the direction of the vice president, such as annual fund campaigns, special events and other fundraising projects.  

"Mrs. Brunson brings tremendous passion and enthusiasm with her into this new role," said President Sellers. "Since joining the Voorhees family, she has been instrumental in planning and implementing various successful events and projects for the institution."  

Brunson, who has been employed with Voorhees since 2007, previously served as director of communications. In this role, she oversaw all of the college's marketing efforts including the writing and disseminating of press releases, writing and coordinating the college's publications and coordinating social media efforts. Additionally, she supervised the institution's radio staff.  

In 2005, Brunson received a Master of Science degree in print journalism from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University. She graduated from South Carolina State University in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in English. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in higher education leadership from Nova Southeastern University. 

Brunson is a member of the Nu Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. 

A native of Bamberg, S.C., Brunson is married to Jamie Brunson, and they have one daughter, Kennedy Brunson. 

"I am thrilled to step into this new role at Voorhees College," said Brunson. "Voorhees has such a great history being the first historically black college founded by a woman. I look forward to being more instrumental in the fundraising projects in an effort to move the institution forward."
