Community Keys donates fans to Voorhees University

Denmark, S.C. – Keylon Singleton, CEO and founder of Community Keys, a 501c3 organization, donated 35 pallets of fans to Voorhees University to support the institution and community during the hot spring and summer months. The non-profit organization focuses on bringing back the fundamental principles of empowerment and growth through their “3 keys,” communication, education, and community development.

“Having this partnership with Walmart, I figured, why not give these fans a home where I know people are really dedicated and really trying to be self-sufficient in their community,” he said.

Community Keys travels around the states seeking families, shelters, veterans, cancer units and victim services to donate items such as clothes, toiletries, non-perishable food and care packages.

“I teach people to be a humble leader and a smart follower. I have a big network that deals with everything from medical health resources, criminal justice, military recruitment, culinary and more. I just like to talk to people more so college students to point them in the right direction of fellowship, being self- sufficient and giving back” he mentioned.

Singleton’s long-time friend, Shawn Hale, Director of campus safety and security at Voorhees expressed his admiration for the company targeting undeveloped areas who are looking to grow and being a strong advocate for HBCUs.

“It can get extremely hot in Denmark. We will store these fans for emergency purposes on campus, and we will make them available to the elderly in the community when temperatures rise in the coming months,” said Hale.

Voorhees University president Ronnie Hopkins expressed his gratitude for this gift of over 1,000 fans. “In addition to receiving the fans, we are extremely blessed to forge a partnership with Mr. Singleton and Community Keys. It is these kinds of partnerships that help move the university to the next level of excellence,” he said.
