Former Voorhees baseball player earns professional contract
May 03, 2018
Former student, 23-year-old Bradley Isaac, recently earned a professional baseball spring training contract with the Trinidad Triggers of the Pegos League in Trinidad, Colo.
The Pecos League is a non-affiliated independent professional baseball league with teams residing in the states of New Mexico, Kansas, Colorado, Texas, Arizona, and California. The week-long spring training begins May 17 with the regular season opening May 24.
Isaac said that many people his age only dream of making it to the pros and this is a proud moment for him and his family.“I love baseball, and I have been working hard at the sport since I was three years old. Voorhees gave me the opportunity to improve my skill set and develop as a player,” Isaac said. “I plan to go out there and train harder than ever so I can get to the next level.”
Isaac, a Monroe, S.C. native, transferred to Voorhees Fall 2014 from Jacksonville University. He majored in business administration and played baseball for three seasons finishing Spring 2017. During his time at Voorhees, Isaac accumulated a career batting average of .339 and an on-base percentage of .478. On the mound, he had a career Earned Run Average (ERA) of 4.21 in 62 innings pitched.
While at Voorhees, he was a member of the Voorhees College Baseball Team, the Epsilon Omega Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Gentlemen’s Social Club (GSC), and the Voorhees College Cheerleading Team, where he served as manager.
Voorhees head baseball coach Justin Thomas said Isaac has a high baseball IQ and knows what he is doing on the field, which becomes more crucial at the professional level.
“From a defensive stand point, he has the unique ability to adequately play nearly every position on the field, which may increase his chances to make a roster at the next level,” Thomas said. “Offensively, he handles the bat very well, hits the ball hard, and is always a tough out.”
