Voorhees adds a new psychology major
June 20, 2016
The department intends for the major to provide students with the opportunity to understand major theoretical approaches, findings and historical trends in psychology and research methods in psychology, including design, data analysis, and interpretation.
According to Assistant Professor of Psychology Dr. Tywana Branch, the problems of the world, such as violence, crime, economic issues, prejudice and discrimination, illness, alcohol and drug abuse, are caused by the behaviors of human beings, which falls under the discipline of psychology, which is interconnected with every other discipline.
Students in the psychology program will have the opportunity to be well-rounded individuals that can use their knowledge and practices of psychology and venture into any other arena they choose after graduation.
“I am truly excited about its addition to the college majors. Psychology is such a fascinating subject, and I cannot wait to expose our students to the scientific study of behavior and mental processes,” Branch said.
If you are or know a student interested in joining the psychology program, please contact Dr. Tywana Branch at email@example.com or at (803) 780-1089.
