The Voorhees College Tigers are currently ranks No. 1 in Division II in total scoring, No. 3 in Division II in total steals, and ranks No. 24 in Division II in scoring offense per game by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

Head Men’s Basketball Coach Derrick Mitchell said this is the first time Voorhees has been officially ranked in 12 years. “This is one of many successful moments for our team. Our rankings motivate the players to work harder and develop themselves as players,” Mitchell said.

Javari Albergotti, senior point guard, said Coach Mitchell has motivated them to take it to the next level in every practice since the season began. “This is one goal we projected as a team because of the work we put in during practices and games. We look forward to achieving more wins to reach our ultimate goal, which is the championship,” Albergotti said.

The tigers celebrated a recent win during their last home game Nov. 27 against the SC Faith A&M Bulls. The Tigers defeated the Bulls 128-75.

The team is currently preparing for a rival game against the Allen University Yellow Jackets at Allen in Columbia, S.C. on Dec. 3 at 8 p.m.
