Voorhees selects Mr. and Ms. VC Alumni 2019 for Homecoming

Nathanial Kemp and Terrianna McCullough were selected as the 2019 Mr. And Ms.VC Alumni. Kemp and McCullough will serve as the official emcees of the 17th annual Hall of Fame Banquet on Friday, Nov. 8, and participate on Saturday, Nov. 9, in the Homecoming parade at 10 a.m. in downtown Denmark on Maple Street. 

Kemp graduated from Voorhees College in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. While at Voorhees, he was a member of the Student Support Services Program (SSSP), National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Student Alliance, where he served as president, the Voorhees College Choir, and the Eta Iota Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. 

Additionally, he was the fifth Mr. Voorhees College, where he served from 2018-2019. 

Currently, the Denmark, S.C. native is attending Clark Atlanta University to earn a master’s degree in African-American studies. While he is in school, Kemp is in the process of starting his non-profit organization that teaches refinement in black excellence. 

As Mr. VC Alumni 2019, he wants to make a financial impact on his alma mater. “Ms. VC and I are raising money collectively to help students in need, whether its scholarships, books, or funds toward dormitory upgrades, we want to make a difference,” kemp said. 

McCullough graduated from Voorhees College in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication. While at Voorhees, she was a member of the W. Franklin Evans Honors College, Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society, Mass Communication Club, where she served as the social media manager, the Lady Tigers Softball Team, the Honda Campus All-Star Academic Team, and the Theta Epsilon Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. 

Additionally, she was a peer educator, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) All-Star White House Ambassador, Presidential Scholar, and crowned the 50th Miss Voorhees College, where she served from 2017-2018. 

Currently, the Lamar S.C. native is attending Queens University to earn a master’s degree in strategic communication. While she is in school, McCullough serves as the store manager for a local Shoe Dept. 

McCullough said she is grateful for the opportunity Voorhees College has given her to serve in such a role. “As Ms. VC Alumni 2019, I will continue to give back to my alma mater and Mr. VC, and I encourage our fellow alumni to do the same. It is important to give to the students because we were once in their shoes,” McCullough said. 

Kemp and McCullough will be announced during halftime of the women’s basketball game, which begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9.
