Voorhees set to operate first Veterans Resource Center

March 05, 2019

Voorhees College will have an official grand opening for the first Veterans Resource Center (VRC) on Thursday, March 14 at 11 a.m. in Bedford Hall on campus.

The VRC is established to sustain educational support programs involving application, admission, matriculation, graduation, and professional placement to attract military veterans, service members, dependents, and survivors to pursue their academic and professional development interests and goals.

Additionally, the center is responsible for the training of school certifying officials, certifying GI Bill educational benefit recipients, monitoring Veteran Affairs (VA) payments to students and the college, and managing VA students tutoring and work-study programs.

Lee Odom, the director of the Veterans Research Center, said the center is the first one of its kind in Voorhees history. “We are looking forward to the service we will provide to the veterans and their family members. The VRC is a military friendly education support here to serve,” Odom said.

The grand opening is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Office of Communications, at 803-780-1191 or at communications@voorhees.edu.
