February 13, 2019
Voorhees College Student Government Association (SGA) president Christina Donovan is the recipient of the 2019 National Association of Student Affairs Professionals (NASAP) Outstanding Undergraduate Student Leader Award.
The award ceremony will take place during the 65th Annual National Association of Student Affairs Professionals Conference on Feb. 23 in Atlanta. This year’s theme is “Accelerating Transformation in Higher Education.”
The annual conference provides a forum for professional growth and development for individuals who work with students in the student affairs profession. The conference is open to professionals in higher education in general and to the nation’s business industry.
NASAP is on the leading edge regarding issues, solutions, and professional development opportunities for student affairs professionals serving at Historically Black Colleges and Universities and for those professionals who serve minority populations in diverse settings around the country.
Donovan said the award is a high honor that she is proud to receive as a Voorhees SGA president. “I am even more excited to represent Voorhees College as an outstanding student leader. I believe that Voorhees has helped cultivate me into the student leader I have become, and I will continue to serve my institution well,” Donovan said.
Charlene Johnson, vice president for the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, said on behalf of the division, Donovan makes the entire institution look good frequently as she leads by example. “Donovan is a phenomenal student leader who cares about the institution and the student body. Her professional development is highlighted through the many capacities she serves in at Voorhees,” Johnson said.
