June is Men's Health Month
On average, men in the U.S. die five and a half years earlier than women and die at higher rates from 9 of the top 10 leading causes of death. On Friday, June 16, during Wear Blue Day, everyone can give a boost to men’s health by taking a photo of you and your friends, family or coworkers wearing blue and posting the photo on social media, using the #ShowUsYourBlueBamberg

The Center of Excellence and HopeHealth will be providing Free STD Testing from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the campus Nurse’s Station. These diagnostic and treatment services are funded by SC DHEC to reduce new HIV and STD infections among college students.  The Center of Disease Control (CDC) recommends regular STD testing for all sexually active individuals as one of the best practices to protect one's health. CDC also recommends having an open and honest conversation about one's sexual history with a health care provider. If you are a Voorhees College student and you are not comfortable speaking with your regular health care provider about STDs, or unable to access medical care, please join on us on April 13th.  All testing is free and confidential. For more information, please contact Shiheda Furse, MPH, CHES at (803) 535-2272 or sfurse@hope-health.org.

For additional information on any Center of Excellence event, contact Wesley L. Boykin, Ph.D., M.P.H. at (803) 780-1349 or wboykin@voorhees.edu.
